Metzgar, Stefano to Honor Local Veterans in Somerset County
October 28, 2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Carl Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) and Sen. Pat Stefano (R-Fayette/Somerset/Westmoreland) announced today they will be hosting a breakfast to honor local veterans on Friday, Nov. 5, at 8:30 a.m., at the Stoystown American Legion, located at 359 N. Club Road in Stoystown.
“Our veterans have gone above and beyond to protect us and our freedoms from our enemies,” said Metzgar. “I am forever grateful for their service to our country, and they deserve the utmost recognition for doing what many could not do. To express my gratitude, all veterans from the 69th District who have served our great nation are invited to attend. I am excited to meet with our amazing heroes.”
This year’s guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Robert “Hank” Sembower Jr., who served the nation and the Commonwealth for 37 years. His prestigious awards and honors include the Legion of Merit, three Meritorious Service medals, the Pennsylvania Distinguished Service medal and the NATO medal. Sembower’s last duty assignment was commander of the 55th Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division Mechanized, headquartered in Scranton.
“Our veterans have performed an extraordinary duty without regard for hardship or sacrifice, showing that they are the true strength of the nation,” Stefano said. “Serving our country is a genuine expression of selfless commitment, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to share my gratitude with some local veterans.”
The event is free to attend for veterans. Those who wish to attend are asked to please RSVP by calling Metzgar’s district office at 814-443-4230 or by calling Stefano’s district office at 814-443-2053. Veterans may also register on the day of the event, beginning at 8 a.m. Breakfast will follow 30 minutes later.
